Ack.

Well, a month or so ago, I went for a run one Saturday morning. It was kind of a test to see if I was still getting headaches. BOTH of the women I work with now are runners. I obsessively miss it. So, I took a chance, and took off into the wind. I made it 2 minutes. I walked two minutes, then managed to run two more. That was it. Now I know what taking an extended break from running accomplishes - a total and complete setback. I walked home, which took me 14 minutes and served as the cool down I was hoping would ward off the migraine. As soon as I got in, I made a pile of waffles, also hoping that eating would ward off the headache. Within minutes, the daylong migraine set in so bad my teeth hurt. Bah. For the record, it was 46, cloudy, 16 mph wind, 47% humidity, felt like 40.

Since then I've missed running more and more. It's gotten warmer. The days are long enough that I can run when I get home. It's unbearable to not be able to.

I've also been having stomach issues, and more headaches. Last year, be it the lack of stress, the lack of computers, or the increase in working out, I rarely had headaches. They're bad this year.

I finally gave in and looked into seeing a doctor. I had been waiting until we got in a better position financially, but the headaches are affecting my work, so I decided to go ahead and make an appointment last week. My doctor isn't too worried, but ordered an MRI to rule out all the big stuff. Because of my work schedule last week, I pushed the MRI off until Friday.

Wednesday night the stress started kicking in. I barely survived the MRI itself, and I'm not yet sure I'm going to survive the wait. I never really thought anything was wrong - it's very common for runners to get headaches.

Hopefully I'll know something tomorrow.

I have my mp3 player charged and my running clothes laid out. It may be sleeting tomorrow, but I think I'll go for a celebratory 5K when I hear everything's okay.

At least that's what I keep telling myself.
